Lecture: Mapping cellular heterogeneity in cancer with the Curated Cancer Cell Atlas
Date: 23rd April 2026, Time: 14:00-15:00
Location: Large seminar room 0.02, Hamburg Center for Translational Immunology (HCTI), Building N25, UKE
Description: The research group of Michael Tyler has established an integrative, pan-cancer approach to characterize recurring expression patterns across more than 120 scRNA-seq datasets and over 2,000 tumor biopsies, in a database referred to as the Curated Cancer Cell Atlas, or 3CA (Nature 2023, 3CA).
The lab currently expands these efforts to time points along the entire course of cancer development and integrate the 3CA with published datasets for normal tissue, premalignant conditions, and advanced cancer stages. They further deepen this analysis by incorporating spatial transcriptomics and imaging data to fully capture relationships with the microenvironment.
With these multimodal comparisons, the team aims to uncover general principles of cancer development and identify new therapeutic windows for more effective cancer treatment.
